Ahhh... memories. Nice lot of older .50AE You have there. Strangely, my .50AE Desert Eagle came with one box of ammo inside the box... still have the original empty box. The day I bought it, I only had the one box that it came with, and one box of Speer: Lawman in the blue plastic box. Shot a lot of both of those the first couple of years. I too remember when the Speer made stuff went to nickle... the early stuff under the Lawman name was all brass that I ever saw. I can't remember if all of the Gold Dot stuff was brass or not... but all the Speer-Magnum Research stuff I bought in the hard box was plated, in both 300's and 350's. I like to have a range of rounds for any gun I shoot, so I was glad to see that there are more brands of .50AE now than there has ever been. In the next few months I will be doing some simple backyard testing on all the brands and different loadings I have been able to accumulate. Thanks to JustSomeGuy, I now have enough original Samson to include it in the test. It will be interesting to see how my perception of rounds and recoil matched up the reality of a chronograph... if I don't accidentally shoot it. Happy Shootin' MrBlackCat

After a complete tear down cleaning of and reassemble of the DE.50 this morning I loaded up 4 mags with the assortment of factory ammo. Headed to the range, man do I like my reloads better then the full power factory loads. Easier on an old mans wrists, All of the ammo worked with out a problem!

Interesting... do you chronograph any of yours? I have always wondered how low you could go with the .50AE. I have a standing offer for some lower power stuff to test and see what I like, then they offered to custom load them for me at standard price after I see what I want and what works in my gun. I will probably be taking them up on that offer in the near future. I like the lower power stuff... and I like my new Muzzle Brake along with that. MrBlackCat

No since all my shooting is in an indoor range. I use the starting grains suggested in the assorted manuals I also use IMR-4227 H-110 powders I bought my .50 with the muzzle brake on it and am not sorry being in the mid 60's it is fun to shot 4 or 5 mags at a session.
