I bought a box (250) rounds of this for my Desert Eagle... it claims 1100fps mv. It is so weak it can't open the slide enough to eject. Having 250 rounds of this and no .357 Magnum to shoot it in, I decided to see if I could make it work. I tried removing the inner springs. Still not enough. I super-cleaned the gun and left oil residue on the slide surfaces. Still not enough. SO I checked the gas-cylinder to gas piston clearance... 0.004. Should be ok... but what the heck, I made a new piston with 0.0025 clearance... yeah, that is less than my original Israeli fit. Didn't even effect it. It could not open the slide enough to allow the casing to clear the bolt area. It just won't work...
So then I looked at the box of Federal Brass I bought at WalMart, which is all I had and worked fine... it is only rated at 1240fps mv. I can tell you this, that little bit of difference makes a WHOLE lot of sound and recoil difference for sure.
So, I can not recommend American Quality ammo in .357 Magnum for the Desert Eagle pistol.
I can and have strongly recommended American Quality ammo in .50AE. I have shot hundreds of rounds of this stuff in RNFP's and JHP's. Sometime in the next few months I will be getting an inexpensive chronograph and will be doing a .50AE ammo shootout and will try to get some real numbers. This will span nine+ brands and more than a dozen loadings of factory ammo in .50AE.
