Why a bench block is needed, used on sights and depending on what part of the country you live in they are called roll,spring tension pins

I would suggest that for the smaller dia's you also should have a hollow end starter punch set
They do make it a whole lot easier to get the smaller pins started with out damage,these are also form Amazon. They are a lot cheaper than from the companies that call them gunsmithing punches and add $20.00/$30.00 to the price for the name.

Just an addition I went searching on the net and most of the pins I found are made in China, Prices from Brownells around $65.00 set To Harbor Freight assortment black coating 315 about 15 sizes that are usable with 10 to 15 pcs each. $6.99 with the 20% off coupon you can't beat that deal with a stick. And you will have the larger dia's for other occasional projects It is item #67682 in the storehouse hardware packs even cheaper than the same ones on Amazon.
