So what spare parts do folks keep for their mammoth magnums Desert Eagles? I'm talking about spare operating parts, not extra barrels or grips or.............. At this time, I have a new complete spring tune up kit, a gas piston, a slide lock/release lever (Mark I), and a set of Mark I teardrop safety levers. I even have the official take down/cleaning kit which mine didn't come with because I am the second owner. Anything else? Do I have the important things pretty well covered?

None Here. The only time I try to stock parts for a gun, is when the gun is out of production and the Manufacture is no longer in business. Other than that criteria, there is no need to have them around unless its the only weapon you own ?

As the Desert Eagle is one of my oldest and favorite handgun, I keep a lot of spare stuff. I can't find the piston I thought I had, so I just bought one of those, but because the shipping is so high, I always add a spare of full spring kit, spare spring frame, several sets of spare magazine springs, and several extra extractor "springs". (polymer nubs)
I do this because I knew a few people who went with firearms other than the Desert Eagle when the .50AE came out... like the AMT AutoMag V and LAR Grizzly. Now they can't get wear parts... sad.
I will continue to purchase additional wear parts... Magnum Research could be gone tomorrow, and with the current cost of parts for these firearms, can you image if they stopped making them?

Where do you guys find the best selection and/or prices for parts? Numrich has been a good source over the years for me. I used to buy and sell on gunbroker as well. I guess once in a while you could find parts on EBay, but you'd have to check in a lot to find a gem. Surprisingly, the stuff don't last long on any venue. Go figure. You know a lot more folks own DE's than what you see here. The Desert Eagle pistols are still somewhat exclusive due to price or ideals. Many folks just buy or own them to have something on the rare side. That's just my opinion though. I don't think you can find any statistics to prove this nor that.

I looked at Numrich and compared to MR. Some parts were considerable cheaper at MR, which surpiseed me. Anyway, ended up picking a few more parts.

I got one piston and spring kit on hand. Havent hit the round count that I would think would make a necessary change, but its always good to have parts. Never know of availability down the road.

Well the point is what I said - For example - I have a Full parts kit (made from a de-milled Post sample gun) for my transferable Ruger AC556, since Ruger in 2009 no longer services or warrants them (They Have no Parts), and for my Browning beltfed manufactured by Savage Arms in 1942, (we and everybody else knows) they haven't made parts for this gun at least since 1946, so I have worked really hard to find a boat load of parts over the last 12 years to keep this gun RUNNING ! But for most of my other modern day weapons, not so much. I should be able to get some parts as long as they are still in business !

I keep over $3000 worth of spare parts for my Eagles. I am a heavy user of the Eagle and the parts are very hard to come by in my country so I have to keep parts available in case of issues. Generally the MRI tune up kit is a good kit to have and usually about $55 US I think.
