This is for the new owners. When inserting the magazine into the gun FORGET the Hollyweird palm slap of the mag! insert gently all the way. This will stop most of the fTF/FTL's in the .50

Great tip again, now, in my newer 50 ae, there is quite a bit of resistance and takes alot of pressure, that I have never noticed in other desert eagles before. Maybe this is because it is the first new one ive purchased. Does the parts just wear down and work smoother or is there a potential issue. I have put 50 problem free rounds of hornady customs through it at this point and have no issues thus far. But far from being dirty yet. The 44 mag mark 7 i owned always seemed to have some issues but it was a used and abused and not very maintained gun.

Yes it is tight when new, All I can say is that the few times I have forgotten and slapped it in I have had failure to feed problems.

All of them. The Desert Eagle pistol magazine was designed to float. If you are one of those funky shooters that likes to rest your palm on the bottom of the magazine with a two hand hold.........you're going to have issues. A lot of times new mags are going to be tight. At least in my experience......you can load the DE mags to full capacity the very first time no problem. Sometimes you might feel more resistance while inserting a full mag with the bolt closed. There is a reason for that.....should be obvious. Not many differences with semi auto pistols and the DE although there are a couple. It's not your average semi auto pistol. (insert smiley face here)

Interesting read... I have not experienced any tight magazines at all. All of mine eject smoothly, have no resistance going in until it makes contact with the release lug, and then finally when the top round comes in contact with the slide, if it happens to be closed. I don't really "slap" mine in Hollywood style, but when the slide is closed, I do seat them with my palm on insertion, as there is a lot of spring tension. Normally I lock the slide open, then insert the magazine though. Also note that I have only Magnum Research magazines. (.44 and .50)
