The circus is now going to be closing up shop due to in a big part the withdrawing of elephants from the performances. This is ridiculous, we live in a country where we placate to all these social justice warriors and end up going out of business. Some news stations are saying PETA has zoo's in their sights. I dont think these people understand. All these animal acts and exhibits allow kids and people to see these beautiful creatures and enjoy them. The real issue is the ivory trade in africa and asia. Now what are they going to do with the elephants, they will end up in a crappy shelter/reserve. And who will pay for that? How well Are they really cared for? Is there any accountability for their Care? All these questions kinda make me question Peta and All Petanites. They demand action without solutions. Much like Anti Gunners.

Well the elephants were part of the problem, Ringlings are on a self funded Ringling sanctuary. Having been in the biz with circuses and carnivals and magic shows. Feld entertainment which owns the show and the titles to every big named circus. was strictly in the biz for the profit. You would be amazed at what other entertainment venues they own. Here is a link www.feldentertainment.com/About/Brands/ Times are a changing, attention span, video games, instant satisfaction. But the biggest item was the daily operating nut. The train crews, up keep to the feds standards of two complete trains plus spares they lease the engines and engine crews on what ever road they are using. Most of the performers are contractors, including the clowns which have to supply all their own props and costumes except for the big spec production numbers, Pay for their roomette on the train and their meals in the dining car. Most clowns get the minimum and stay with the show only one season and then go back to their former life. That's what the clown college was for keep a fresh stream of bodies for the two shows They have a red unit and blue unit they do the same show for two years, and switch routes they travel. Being a private corporation they have to make a profit to survive. Just remember the original meaning of PETA is People eating tasty animals The souvenir's, food vendors, set up riggers, transportation are all separate companies that use the old famous circus names. and are contractors or leasee to Ringling better tax write off's but it couldn't help. Most of the venues were performers could work are no longer around any more. A lot of the performers are on work visa's from other countries Eastern Europe, South America,Mexico and China. Yes I will be sorry that it is gone grandson is still to young to sit still for 2 1/2 hrs. There are a couple of truck circuses still out there. don't know how long they will be around so if one comes by your area take a break and take a kid to see a circus. |

Thats the shame in it all, I can remember being a kid going and loving it. There are more circus's but your right, just the way times go.
