Not super special, but does have some cool engravings and a cool looking "Battle Worn" worn finish. I really do like the burnt bronze cerakote finish Looks nice. I dont always buy into the Worn finishes. But it is kind of a cool looking special edition if it is your cup of coffee. Also some proceeds go towards a new wounded veteran organization. """" Coming January 2018, Magnum Research is set to release a Special Edition TIG Series Desert Eagle .50AE in a custom Battle Worn Bronze Cerakote® finish 2018. Each unique pistol will be hand-finished and engraved with it’s number in the series, the TIG logo, TIG’s signature and the Beyond the Battlefield logo. The first 50 guns (#1 – #50) will be sold as three gun sets. It will include this Desert Eagle along with the Kahr ST9 TIG model, and the Auto Ordnance Tommy Gun TIG model. Also included in the set will be the book 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi, autographed by John “TIG” Tiegen; co-author, American Hero, former GRS Operator and survivor of the attacks. Part of the proceeds from the sale of each firearm will be donated to the Beyond the Battlefield (BTB). BTB is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that John “TIG” Tiegen and his wife, Margaret, founded in 2017. Its mission is to provide support for wounded veterans as they face the many challenges encountered during rehabilitation, the healing process and reintegration into everyday life. The MSRP on the DE50TIG model is $1,963.""" Source: www.getzone.com/desert-eagle-special-edition/

Maybe I am just too grumpy/cynical, but this sort of thing falls into the category (for me) of simulated character... kind of like a fake tan, or those jeans that come with holes worn in them. I know the function isn't compromised with the gun, unlike the jeans, and pure collectors aren't going to shoot something like this anyway, so it would be for show. With that said, it looks great, like a finely finished/weathered model... I suppose there is a "real story" being promoted behind the gun, but this gun played no part in the actual story, (unless I am super ignorant here) which makes if feel like product exploitation to me. (like a "Tactical" measuring tape I saw once)
When I look at my old Russian M91 or German 8mm Mausers that have seen some serious action and thousands of rounds, that is character.
They look great, but... I'll just leave it at that.

ya, i agree. I always assumed that if its going to have a worn finish, that i will get to do the wearing. I havent seen one of these finish guns in person. (stainless, Nickel, cerakote plain, and Black), i dont know if maybe they hide wear better, by already looking worn. But i doubt it. Probably only a collection piece in reality. The color case hardened tho looks way nice then this.
